Pregnant at 47 and Delivered a Healthy Baby Girl After Failed IUI after 7 Months on the NFP Coaching Program

Fertility Challenges

When Stella & Andy, age 47 & 45 came to us, they had a variety of fertility challenges. Stella had a blocked fallopian tube, a history of miscarriage, ovarian cysts, poor egg quality, high FSH, submural fibroid, PCOS, high cholesterol, allergies and inflammation. In addition, they had failed Clomid and IUI cycles.

Personal Impact of the Fertility Challenges

Stella was living in the UK. She was very conscious of her age and previous fertility struggles and had almost given up hope of having her own child. Andy was living in Ghana and unable to get a visa for the UK, so the situation was quite dismal for them to be able to conceive naturally.
Yet they were determined to have a child — failure wasn’t an option. So they enrolled in the NFP Fertility Coaching Program.

Natural Fertility Treatment Overview

Stella was extremely motivated and committed to her treatment protocol. Our main focus was to identify the causes of inflammation and regulate immune responses. Food sensitivity testing was completed and foods that caused a raised IgG response were reduced or removed from the diet. We also set the strong intention of reducing congestion of the blocked fallopian tubes, plus eliminating gluten, sugar and other mucus-forming foods. Stella increased her exercise and we addressed her and Andy’s lifestyle stressors.

We also worked with Stella on her hormonal balance and cycle regulation to ensure that her endometrial lining was lush and receptive to a healthy pregnancy. It was a little tricky to treat Andy from afar, but he did his best to take the most crucial supplements for healthy sperm production, and he was very motivated and diligent in following the program.

The Transformation Through the NFP Coaching Program

As a result of our work together:
Katerina’s improvements:
  • Stella’s fallopian tubes were found to be clear (patent)
  • Stella and Andy had an Increase in energy
  • They both experienced improvements in their existing health conditions (resolution of dry irritated eyes, resolution of thrush)
  • They both felt very healthy and reported increased happiness and optimism after doing the program
Due to this couple living in different countries, they opted to do IUI, as their time together was limited and lining up timed intercourse was challenging.

Lo and behold… their first IUI after doing the NFP program was a success, after 2.5 years of trying. Their planned next step was to do full IVF, but it wasn’t necessary.
Stella gave birth to a healthy baby girl, completely naturally with normal physiological vaginal birth. Stella refused to have an induction (which is always recommended in women over 40), and there was no intervention, and she had an unmanaged third stage of labor. She had immediate skin to skin contact and successful breastfeeding as soon as the baby was born.

Needless to say, after their years of struggle and disappointment, they now were overjoyed, taking home a healthy baby girl in their arms.

Healthy Baby Boy Conceived Naturally Despite Advanced Age (42 and 44) and Trying to Conceive for 5 Years. Pregnant After 5 Months on the NFP Program, Following Failed IVF + IUI

Fertility Challenges

Rebecca and Cam, 41 and 44, had been trying to conceive for 5 years and had gone through 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed ICSIs when they came to us. Like most women in their 40s, Rebecca had low AMH and had also suffered from hypothyroidism, CRP elevation (an indicator of inflammation), and genetic polymorphisms.

Since Rebecca was 41 at the time and had low AMH, her doctor told her that her eggs were too old and that she’d need donor eggs. Cam, on the other hand, had poor sperm health and poor sperm morphology (2%). Given Cam’s poor sperm results, he was also told that ICSI and donor eggs were their only option. Tests revealed that the couple had low vitamin D levels, zinc deficiency and low CoQ10 levels and multiple food intolerances.

Personal Impact of the Fertility Challenges

Five unsuccessful rounds of ART left Rebecca and Cam’s funds almost depleted. As these fertility treatments were putting an enormous strain on their finances, the couple started looking for a more holistic and less-costly (but effective) approach to their fertility issues.

Natural Fertility Treatment Overview

For Rebecca, the treatment focus was to improve her AMH levels and boost her egg quality. We also addressed Rebecca’s significant genetic polymorphisms, which were impacting her liver function and ability to detox.
We worked with Cam on improving his testosterone levels and on boosting his sperm morphology and sperm quality. We discovered he had elevated levels of radioactive metal in his body, which was contributing to his poor sperm morphology.

Since the couple also suffered from nutrient deficiencies (low Vitamin D, Zinc, and CoQ10), we also focused on correcting these deficiencies and their multiple food intolerances.

The Transformation Through the NFP Coaching Program

After 5 months in the NFP program:
  • Normal sperm morphology for Cam
  • Corrected vitamin and nutrient deficiencies
  • Improvements in sleep and energy levels
  • Improvements in skin, hair, and nails
  • Continued dietary and lifestyle changes even 11 months after the program
The couple conceived naturally, despite being told that donor eggs were their only solution. After 5 years of waiting, a series of failed ART attempts, depleted funds, and only 5 months of coaching and following the NFP program, Rebecca gave birth to a healthy baby boy at age 42 and at 42 weeks of her pregnancy.

Healthy Baby Boy Conceived Naturally at 42

(after 7 Months on the NFP Program)

Fertility Challenges

Diana and Conrad, 42 and 53, respectively, had been trying to conceive for 2.5 years when they decided to work with NFP. Diana had a history of recurrent miscarriages and chemical pregnancy, and she had low AMH. Conrad had a high-stress job, traveling extensively internationally.

Personal Impact of the Fertility Challenges

Because of their existing fertility issues, their fertility specialist recommended they go straight to full IVF with ICSI and PGD (Pre-implantation Diagnosis). Diana was told she only had a 5% chance of success, even with IVF.

Diana and Conrad had a three-year-old daughter and they didn’t want to have a long gap between siblings. As a result of their poor fertility prognosis, trying to conceive had become very stressful, and Diana began to feel like there was something wrong with her body.

Natural Fertility Treatment Overview

We focused Diana and Conrad’s treatment on increasing egg and sperm quality and preparing the uterus for pregnancy. We addressed their antioxidant status and used herbs and nutrients to prevent miscarriage.

We also addressed their Iron, Omega 3 and vitamin D levels, since these nutrients were repleted.

The Transformation Through the NFP Coaching Program

After 7 months in the NFP program, the couple conceived naturally, and to their amazing surprise, they discovered they were pregnant the day they were to commence IVF.

Diana gave birth to a beautiful healthy son at age 42, two months before her 43rd birthday.
The couple also experienced the following improvements:
  • Diana found she had less headaches and clotting during her periods
  • Improved immunity for both Diane and Conrad — no reported colds or flu since they’ve started the program

Conceived Baby Girl at 45 After 5 ½ Years of Trying to Conceive (and 5 X IVF Attempts)

Fertility Challenges

Vanessa and Richard were in their late 40s and 60s, respectively, and had been trying to conceive for 3 years when they joined the NFP program.

In the past few years, Vanessa has gone through numerous IVF and IUI cycles, but with no success. Vanessa was diagnosed with poor egg quality, elevated natural killer cells, thyroid antibodies, endometriosis and thin endometrial lining. Because of these factors, she has had repeated implantation failure and failed embryo transfers.

Richard was already in his 60s and had age-related sperm health issues. He had poor sperm motility and morphology, low volume and high DNA fragmentation. Richard already had adult children and the couple wanted to have a child of their own.

Personal Impact of the Fertility Challenges

Vanessa had a very challenging time throughout her fertility journey, with many IVF and IUI treatments, while juggling job hunting and caring for her ill mother. Richard had other health issues, which made improving his sperm health difficult because he was limited in what he could take due to counter interactions with his medication.

Natural Fertility Treatment Overview

By the time the couple joined the program, they had done multiple rounds of IVF and 7 x embryo transfers, which were all unsuccessful (repeated implantation failure).

They had only 5 frozen embryos left, and they had one genetically tested and found to be normal.

They had recently transferred one genetically normal embryo, which did not implant. Vanessa felt too afraid to do a transfer of the other embryos (and especially the known normal embryo) until she was in a better state of mind and health.
Our focus with Vanessa and Richard was to correct their existing hormonal and nutrient imbalances and address the polymorphisms that were hindering their nutrient absorption.

Vanessa worked hard on improving her health and fertility during the program, and she continued working with her coach after the program ended. With her coach’s recommendation, Vanessa worked with a counselor to support her emotional well-being.

The Transformation Through the NFP Coaching Program

While following the program, Vanessa felt more energetic and felt less fatigue throughout her day. Her ultrasound revealed improvements in her endometrial thickness, which was beneficial for implantation. Richard had improved overall lab results, better liver function and improvements in his digestive function.

During the time we worked with them, Vanessa landed a job she loved and decided to do the transfer of the genetically normal embryo. To their absolute delight, after several prior implantation failures, the embryo implanted, and Vanessa went on to have a healthy pregnancy.
It took 2 ½ years of working together before Vanessa and Richard finally conceived via IVF.

Vanessa gave birth to a lovely baby girl at age 45.

Baby Born at 40 After Trying to Conceive for 18 Months (12 Months on the NFP Program)

“We had a wonderful experience. The course reinforced healthy lifestyle habits and Kathryn was wonderful in analyzing our case and provided exactly the type of support which (we feel) is utterly lacking in a fertility clinic setting - a focused treatment plan for physical and mental wellness, nutrition and ultimately, to improve quality of egg and sperm.”

Baby Conceived at 42 After Trying to Conceive for 5 Years (5 Months on the NFP Program)

Fertility Challenges

Before joining the NFP program, Maria and Nico had already gone through 5 x IVF cycles over 18 months. Already in her early 40s, Maria was diagnosed with endometriosis, partially obstructed fallopian tubes and a benign pituitary tumor. She had poor egg quality (chromosomally abnormal embryos in IVF), which caused the repeated implantation failures.

Nico, Maria’s husband, had sperm health issues including high DNA fragmentation, poor sperm motility and high round cells and debris — all of which contributed to the chromosomally abnormal embryos in IVF.

In addition, the couple suffered from hormonal imbalances (including low estrogen, testosterone and progesterone) and had nutrient deficiencies (poor Zinc and Vitamin D levels).

Personal Impact of the Fertility Challenges

Going through several unsuccessful IVF attempts left Maria and Nico financially and emotionally challenged. Nevertheless, they were hopeful and excited about the possibility of the NFP program improving their chances of conceiving and giving birth to a thriving, healthy baby.

Natural Fertility Treatment Overview

Given the couple’s history of failed IVF cycles and PGD abnormal embryos, we focused on improving chromosomal health in both partners to prepare them for their upcoming IVF cycle and help them improve their chances of natural conception.

Our aim was to correct Maria’s hormonal imbalances by increasing her estrogen, testosterone and progesterone and to improve Alex’s chromosomal and reproductive health.
It was very important to also improve implantation potential for Maria to optimize her chances of a successful embryo transfer.

In addition, the couple took supplements prescribed by their coach and worked hard to improve their diet and lifestyle.

The Transformation Through the NFP Coaching Program

Maria and Nico did another IVF cycle only after successfully completing the NFP program. To their delight, they got an improved response and 1 x PGD normal embryo. They decided to do a transfer of one of their PGD normal embryos (they don’t know which one)... and it stuck!
At the time of this writing, Maria and Nico are 16 weeks pregnant. Maria is feeling fantastic and all test results are normal so far. Maria will give birth by the time she’s 43.

Pregnant at 39 After Following the NFP Program Despite Having a History of Recurrent Miscarriages

Fertility Challenges

At 39, Nicola was discouraged by her doctor to try to get pregnant again after her recent miscarriage because her “eggs were too old”. At the time that she and her husband, Ayo, worked with us, they had had 3 miscarriages and one chemical pregnancy.

Personal Impact of the Fertility Challenges

The couple wanted a sibling for their daughter and were devastated after their series of miscarriages. Nicola found it emotionally difficult to reach out to us after her recent miscarriage.
Trying to protect them from another heartbreak, their doctor had explicitly discouraged them from trying to conceive again. He claimed that Nicola’s eggs were “too old” for conception and that any effort to conceive would only lead to another miscarriage.

Natural Fertility Treatment Overview

In our treatment, we focused on uncovering and addressing the root cause of Nicola and Ayo’s recurrent miscarriages. After initial testing, we discovered that Nadia's Aluminium was too high, and she had gene polymorphisms that were impacting her liver function and ability to detox, which was linked to her recurrent miscarriages. We also found that her progesterone was too low.

We addressed her imbalances and supported her low progesterone with supplements, and we gave Nicola and Ayo diet and lifestyle advice for their unique case.

The Transformation Through the NFP Coaching Program

After 3 months of working with us, Nicola realized her period was late. She did a pregnancy test that turned out to be positive.

Nicola didn’t believe it, so she bought another test, just to be sure.
Her pregnancy progressed well, and all of her scans were normal. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl at full term one month before her 40th birthday. Her doctor was quite surprised and happy for her and Ayo.

Pregnant With a Baby Girl at 43 After Combining IVF With the NFP Program and Using Own Eggs, Despite Doctor Suggesting Donor Eggs and Estimating a 10% Chance of Success

Fertility Challenges

Lena and Omar were already trying to conceive for 4 years when they joined the NFP program. As Lena was in her 40s, she was told by her doctors that her eggs were too old for natural conception. They wanted to rush her into IVF. Lena had PCOS, hormonal imbalances, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and a low BMI that was suboptimal for fertility.

Omar had varicocele surgery in the past and had poor sperm health.

Personal Impact of the Fertility Challenges

Both Lena and Omar had a very busy lifestyle and traveled constantly from Africa to Europe for work. This made it extra challenging for them to address their fertility issues during their busy travel schedule.

Natural Fertility Treatment Overview

Our treatment was focused on addressing the hormonal imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, and toxicities in the body that were affecting Lena’s ability to produce healthy eggs and keep a healthy pregnancy.

Lena showed incredible dedication and even traveled to Europe to buy organic food, supplements and ingredients she could not get in Africa.

We’d never seen such commitment and dedication before.
While in Europe, Lena did the recommended tests, and we got to work. We addressed her heavy metal toxicities and thyroid antibodies. We detoxed her liver from toxic malaria drugs, boosted her BMI and addressed hormonal imbalances and PCOS.

Because Omar traveled a lot and had a very busy lifestyle, it was difficult for him to follow the program. However, we encouraged him to put in the bare minimum effort by taking his supplements and eating as healthy as he possibly could.

The Transformation Through the NFP Coaching Program

As Lena was already 42 at this time and Omar wasn’t able to follow the program as closely as Lena did, the couple decided to pursue another round of IVF after a year and a month of working with us.

To the couple’s surprise, they were successful on their first round of IVF using Lena’s own eggs, which at 44 is almost unheard of. Nine months later, Lena delivered a healthy baby girl at full term via natural birth.
